The Christie NHS Foundation Trust is the largest single site cancer centre in Europe, treating more than 60,000 patients a year. The Christie is part of the Manchester Cancer Research Centre (MCRC) working with The University of Manchester and Cancer Research UK. During 2020, the Christie was once again rated Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), becoming the first specialist trust in the country to be given its highest accolade twice, and warmly described by the CQC as ‘a leader in cancer care’ and ‘pioneers in developing innovative solutions to cancer care.’ The Christie is ranked as the most technologically advanced cancer centre in the world outside North America, and have been named, by the National Institute for Health Research, as one of the best hospitals providing opportunities for patients to take part in clinical research studies.

The Christie leads research into innovative techniques such as using DNA to personalise treatment and to help people’s immune systems fight cancer. There are more than 650 clinical research studies and trials running at any given time.
The Christie established The Christie School of Oncology to provide undergraduate education, clinical professional and medical education - the first of its kind in the UK.
